“Before I was born, I wasn’t. Then moments later I was. I write music. I record music. I produce & perform music. I adore music. My name is Simon.”

Singer, songwriter and producer, Simon Paul, has been involved in the music industry for over 15 years, landing his first job as a teenager, assisting on The Melbourne International Guitar Show. With a history of performances at top venues around town, production credits on many releases, a previous role at Australia’s largest music retailer’s Head Office and ongoing involvement with audio production education, Simon Paul has first hand experience in many aspects of this creative field.

Graduating from RMIT’s Audio Production course in late 2000, Simon went on to teach at JMC Academy’s audio engineering school at age 19. Since then he has instructed and supervised audio production courses at RMIT, The Victorian Arts Centre and Revolver’s School of Audio. Carefully balancing a love of music performance and song-writing with a passion for production, he has worked with many like minds in the industry.

One of Simon Paul’s most recent achievements is the production of his debut solo album For Broken Hearts & Lovers (2009). The epic production took the best part of 2 years to complete, with over 20 guest performers, including Travis Demsey (The Living End), John Foreman (Australian Idol), Susannah Legge (The Hampdens) and Kelly Lane (Duck Dive). His song-writing, performance and production style has been likened to respected artists such as Aqualung, Coldplay, The Postal Service, silverchair and Jeff Buckley.

Currently residing in Melbourne’s bayside area, Simon Paul has performed at many of the city’s established venues. He has played dynamic and powerful headline shows to appreciative audiences at such venues as St. Kilda’s iconic Esplanade Hotel and Melbourne’s alluring Manchester Lane.

“A performance of particular note was ‘Ten Umbrellas’, sending a roar of approval through the audience… a playful and endearing atmosphere the audience wholeheartedly participated in… wonderfully void of any pretension… an uplifting night.” -Faster Louder (Espy Hotel Performance)
